Conair Infiniti You Curl

Hi Everyone!

I just finished my review on the Conair Infiniti You Curl Clamp free curling iron. I really liked this product, you can achieve so many different curls.  I have an 1''1/2 big barrel curling iron and I find that it leaves my hair with kinks and lines. But with the clampless curling iron you don't get kinks or lines through your hair. You can achieve a spiral curl like the one I did in my Taylor Swift Tutorial by taking small sections and wrapping it tightly around the barrel. Or you can achieve a looser curl by taking bigger sections. This product only cost me $30 at Walmart and it is worth every penny. I would have spent more money on it because it is really that good of a curling iron. I always use to see vendors in the mall trying to sell hair products and I always saw a clamp free curling iron and wanted to try it but never did because it was too expensive.  But this curling iron is really cheap, $30 is nothing considering some hair products like a straightening serum can cost around the same thing.  This product is a As Seen On TV product and I suggest you go out and get one if you are sick and tired of having multiple curling irons to achieve different looks or are getting kinks and lines through your hair like me!

Go check out my video on YouTube where I talk all about this curling iron and show you the different features:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzYmgKEoR5s

Taylor Swift Inspired Hair

Hi Everyone! I just finished doing a Taylor Swift Inspired Hair Tutorial on YouTube.  Taylor's hair is her signature. She has beautiful curls, I would describe them as a spiral curl.  I had a request to do a tutorial on how to get her curls.  So I started watching some videos and reading articles on how she does her hair and she said that she uses a clamp free curling iron.  So I decided to try it out with my Conair Infiniti You Curl Clampless Curling Iron.  I absolutely love this curling iron.  This was a really fun tutorial and it didn't take me very long to do.  What I like about the curling iron is there is no kinks or creases and you can achieve so many different looks.  I will be posting a video review on the curling iron and will post that later on so you can see all the different aspects of the curling iron!  I hope you enjoy the video.

5 Hottest Spring Hairstyles!

It's officially Spring time which means new trends!!! I've been searching a lot on what the main hair trends would be for this Spring and so many websites list so many different styles that seem to always be in trend.  Out of all of trends I'm going to talk to you about 5 hairstyles that I kept seeing on every website.  Stay tuned for some new YouTube video's on some of these hottest Spring hair trends!

1. Beachy Waves
Although it seems like this hairstyle is always in trend (which it is) it is one of the hottest looks hitting the runway this Spring.  The beach waves is an effortless, minimalist, messy look that looks so good. I love having beach waves, it's really easy to achieve and it looks great! Plus there are so many different ways of doing a wave you can do a different beach wave in your hair everyday! There are so many celebs who support this look I could almost name you all of Hollywood. (Picture: Below: Julia Roberts, Left: Kate Hudson, Right: Gisele Bundchen)

2. Va Va VOLUME!!!
Big Hair Is In!!!! Well doesn't it seem like big hair has been in for a few years now, either way it's in again this Spring. Big hair was spotted all over the runway and I can tell you from personal experience a hairstyle doesn't seem quite finished until you tease it a little! "Everything that is old is new" is the slogan I like to use. The clothes and hairstyles that my mom wore back in the day is back now and in style!  I think adding a little volume to your hair makes it look great but I'm not talking Amy Winehouse volume.  It's one thing for models on the runway and celebs doing the big big BIG hair look but runway shows are always out there.  So when I said volume I mean a little tease not like you've been electrocuted!  (Picture: Below: Drew Barrymore, Left: Kate Beckinsale, Right: Scarlett Johansson)

3. Extreme Side Part
I've been noticing that a lot of younger teenagers are wearing their hair with an extreme side part then swooping over the bangs. (FYI: swooping hair/bangs was a trend I found I thought I would add it to this trend) I know that if you have side swept bangs you automatically have a side part but these parts that I've been seeing on the runway are really far parts like almost near your ear. The pro's of doing an extreme side part is that you are gaining a lot of volume by directing the hair over to the other side. I also love the look of a side part and middle ponytail. Keep an eye out for this new hot trend. (Below: Anne Hathaway, Left: Sienna Miller, Right: Models Spring 2011 Carolina Herrera, Gucci and Louis Vuitton)

4. Buns and Ponytails:
Buns and Ponytails have been forever! I know that when I'm having a bad hair day I like to throw my hair back in a messy bun or high ponytail.  But the look for spring is sleek ponytail! It doesn't matter where it's positioned it's all about the sleek style.  High ponytails, low ponytails and right in the middle of the head ponytails have been showing up on the runway. You can easily achieve two ''in'' looks by teasing at the crown then putting your hair in a  low ponytail you get the volume and ponytail in 1 look.  Also buns we're everywhere on the runway too! Any style of bun you want it's in! I really like the messy bun on top of the head on a lazy day but low buns are really in this spring. You can make it more elegant with a high ballerina bun or dress is down with a low messy bun. (Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Bosworth, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Emma Roberts)

And Ponytails
Jennifer Aniston: One of my all time  favourite looks. Sleek parted middle ponytail and her hair is wraped around the elastic to hide it. Looks amazing and falls under 2 hot spring trends (ponytail and side part)

Above: Jessica Simpson with a low ponytail
Below: Reese Witherspoon with a high ponytail I LOVE this barbie doll look!

5. Braids:
Braids have becoming very popular the past few years since the bohemian style has been worn throughout Hollywood. Almost every celebrity has worn a type of braid in their hair. What's so great about braids is that they are very versatile. You can do a different style of braid everyday for a very long time. You can wear your braids down or up, french or dutch, fish tail or rope. It seems that messier braids are more in style than very clean defined braids. I love a braided hairstyle.  I don't think this trend will ever leave.

Braided Headband!!

This is a really easy and simple braided headband! It's a nice alternative than doing a more difficult french or dutch braid. This look again is really easy and didn't take long at all. Braids are in this season and you can easily dress this look up with curls or dress is down with waves for more of a bohemian look. I hope you enjoy it!

Oscar Fashion!

Now I know this post is very late because the Oscars happen a long time ago but I'm just finally getting around to quickly posting my favourite outfits of the night.

BEST DRESSED:
Reese Witherspoon
This was my favourite look of the night! It reminded me a lot of the dress Julia Roberts wore when she won the Oscar.  I love her hair the most! Here Reese is wearing a Giorgio Armani Privé dress with Neil Lane gorgeous emerald earrings! I love the barbie look so much!

Celine Dion
Wowza! She looks amazing especially for just having twins. I love this Giorgio Armani Privé dress! It makes up for the time she wore the backwards tux! Plus her dress when she sang also looked amazing!

Gwyneth Paltrow
I'm usually not a big fan of hers on the red carpet but I really love this Calvin Klein Collection dress in a liquid metallic. Also I like the added Louis Vuitton jewlz and belt she added. Favourite part is the dropped neckline!

Natalie Portman
This is by far my favourite look of hers from all the main red carpets this year.  I wasn't a big fan of the dresses from the Globes or the SAG's but I really like this Rodarte dress detailed with Swarovski Crystals and Jimmy Choo shoes! I love it when pregnant people dress sexy!

WORST DRESS:

Marisa Tomei
This is probably my pick for worst look of the night. This Charles James dress is a mess. It makes her look much bigger than she is. She has an amazing figure but you can't tell with this dress. The bust is the wrong fit and way to high. And her hair looks choppy and bad.

Nicole Kidman
Oh Nicole! She looked so good at the Grammy's but she failed to impress in this Dior dress. She looked so amazing last year too. I expect so much more from her especially since I made her best dress of the month of February. Her necklace though is amazing! It's a rare 19th century diamond Riviere from Fred Leighton. It's a beautiful necklace.

Cate Blanchett
This Givenchy Couture dress is either a hit or miss with people. It's a haut couture look that I don't really like. When I first saw it I thought the colours together looked like Easter. I'm not a big fan of the dress I think all the details make it too busy.

Jennifer Hudson
Jennifer looks amazing since joining Weight Watchers and I love that she is living a happy healthy health but when you lose weight especially in the boob area it can look bad depending what you wear. The colour looks amazing but I do not like the top of the dress because I feel like her boobs are on display and from certain angles her boobs looked flat. It ruined the look for me.

BEST HAIR:
Reese Witherspoon

BEST NECKLACE:
Nicole Kidman

BEST EARRINGS:
ReeseWitherspoon

BEST COUPLE:
Jeff Bridges with his wife, Susan Geston and 3 daughters and son-in-law! So cute!

BEST LOOK FROM NON ACTOR:
Maria Menounos TV host of Access Hollywood
She looks amazing! When I saw her interview someone on the red carpet I fell in love with this one shoulder Johanna Johnson dress. I love how it's sexy and dramatic. It's a toss up between her dress and Reese's dress for my favourite look of the night.
Plus look at her bracelet, Gorgeous! I love how it attaches to her finger, it contrasts well against the black sleeve. My pick for BEST BRACELET!

And there you have it! Those are my picks for the Best and Worst from the 2011 Oscars!  A little late but better late than never!

Beauty On A Budget: Hair Products Under $5!!!

Hi Everyone! I just finished another YouTube video where I talked about hair products that I use and have been using for years now. All of these products are under $5!!!!  If some of you are like me and find a lot of hair products especially salon brands to be overly expensive then check out this video. I talk about a wide range of products and give you a few different options. I have two different types of hairsprays, mousses, thermal sprays etc...  Beauty products are getting very expensive especially if you consider there is a product for every hair type and style. So in the end you end up paying a lot of money on products.

All these products I've tested and use and really like them! I'm not going to show products that I don't like and haven't worked well on my hair.  Again I say all these products are under $5 but the price may vary depending where you live and which store you go to. So the prices may differ +/- a couple of dollars but shouldn't be that much more expensive!

I believe in finding a good bargain in hair and makeup products so if you have any good bargain deals please feel free to email me at karrahsblog@hotmail.com or if you have a YouTube account through their emailing system or even comment below on this post.  I'm always curious to know of different products out there.

YouTube: How To Curl You Hair With A Straightener!!!

Hi Everyone!

I just posted a brand new YouTube video on how to curl your hair with a straightener! It only took around 20minutes to do and it was really fast and easy! A straightener can give you amazing curls!

YouTube: How I get volume to my hair!

This is another YouTube video that I did on how to achieve big volume hair using a very inexpensive product: Garnier Frusctis Body Boost Root Booster! It's a spray gel that you apply to the roots of your hair when your hair is damp. I show you how I apply the product and how I blow dry my hair!  This product works great on my hair, depending on your hair type it may have a different result.  In the video, it may not seem like I have that much volume in my hair but again for MY hair I found that there was volume and what I  love about this root pump is that it made my hair fuller and thicker!  In the video near the end I comb down a lot of the volume and I did not tease my hair, which is how you get the volume to stay in your hair is by teasing. I found that this product works great as a base for teasing, you do not have to tease as much and it really helps hold the tease in your hair. I've had some mixed reviews about this video from some viewers saying that they couldn't see the volume that the product gave but again I just want to explain that for my hair type it worked great and that it is more of a base for teasing, in order to have the volume last all day you have to have a tease or backcomb in your hair!  Also it made my hair full and thick and I could tell that it did give it volume compared to my hair being dried without it!

Please go check out my tutorial on how I apply the Garnier Fructis Body Boost Root Booster to my hair, and the technique I use while blow drying my hair to achieve volume without having to use a round brush!

YouTube: Wavy Hair With A Diffuser!

Keeping with the theme of wavy hair, I completed a video on how to get a messy beach wave using a diffuser. In the video I also explain how to use the diffuser and the different types of diffusers I have and what they work best for.  I love my diffuser, it's very easy and fast to use and gives you a different look in half the time because you only need to blow dry your hair with it, no need for other products.  I have very straight and almost flat hair, but with the diffuser, it gives it thickness and makes my hair look fuller. If you have wavy or curly hair and are looking for the perfect curls using a diffuser will help eliminate the frizz! I suggest that everyone has a diffuser because you can also use it for other hairstyles such as velcro rollers where you put them in and the use the diffuser to disperse heat over them.  In order for your hair to hold that volume and shape it needs to go from heated to completely cooled in that position, so using a diffuser with velcro rollers is a great way to achieve volume without blowing your hair everywhere.  A diffuser doesn't blow your hair everywhere, it distributes (diffuses) heat to only the section you apply it to, unlike a blow dryer without a diffuser where your hair is being moved around everywhere. I hope this makes some sense! I think that I might do a tutorial on 'how to apply velcro rollers' and how to apply a diffuser to the rollers.

As for now, please check out my video tutorial on How To Get: Wavy Hair With A Diffuser!

YOUTUBE: wavy hair with a waver

A while back I posted a YouTube video on how to get wavy hair with a straightener.  I recently just finished another video on how to get wavy hair using my Revlon 3 Barrel Waver.  This waver is amazing! I suggest you go out and get one! It takes half the time to do than using a straightener and it works really well.  If you are looking for more of a soft 'S' wave to your hair that you would get from braiding your hair then pick up a waver because that's the type of waves you will get!  The waves you get with a straightener are more of a 'Z' wave.

Please check out my video on how to get wavy hair using a 3 barrel waver!

Best and Worst Look From February

Now that February is past us,  I've picked my best and worst look from the past month. With the Oscars happening at the end of February it would have been really easy to just pick a few looks from there since all of Hollywood came out for the event. But I figured I'll do a separate post on Oscar Fashion! I'll pick my best and worst dress from the night, I'm only a week late! But for the month of February I picked fashion from a different red carpet.

BEST DRESSED!!

Nicole Kidman:

There we're many choices for best dressed of the month especially with so many red carpet events. But the reason I picked Nicole is because I wanted to compare her look to the look of the Worst Dress.  Here Kidman is wearing a beautiful L'Wren Scott lace dress that fits her like a glove. Plus the Charlotte Olympia shoes are gorgeous! She's wearing minimal jewelry and I love that her hair is down. Having her hair up would make the look too dressy. This way the hair continues the very feminine silhouette. Also is refreshing to see her look so good after a few bad choices this month! Love it!

 WORST DRESSED:

Anne Hathaway:
OH MY! I have no idea what Anne is wearing to the premiere of Ice Age: RIO! But she doesn't look good! Her makeup is beautiful but her clothing choice is, well it leaves me speechless. I would have never ever ever expected Anne to wear this. I don't even know where to begin. I know that mixing and matching is in style but not this mixing and matching! The striped sweater isn't a nice colour at all on it's own. Then the polka dot dress isn't flattering with the side ruffles. Then the shoes are too big and clunky. Total Fail. It's sad because she wore 8 dresses at the Academy Awards and looks amazing!

The reason I choice Nicole Kidman and Anne Hathaway for Best and Worst is because I wanted to compare the different red carpet looks. Nicole was at the spirit awards which is an award show that is more relaxed and not so black tie like the other major award shows.  Anne Hathaway is at the premiere of Ice Age: RIO which is not as dressy as the Spirit Awards but as someone who is a Fashionista and always looks good she failed to impress big time. She should have went with a similar style to Nicole. Anne has pale skin and the red would have looked amazing with her skin tone.

Stay tuned for the best and worst looks of the Oscars!
