Beauty Mistakes/Tips!

Hi  Everyone! Sorry I haven't updated my blog in a while. I've been sidetracked but last night my mom gave me a great article from Oprah.com talking about 26 beauty mistakes that us girls make. I found it really interesting and thought I would share some of the mistakes I didn't know about or think everyone should know! I'll be posting probably only 10 but at the end of the article I posted the link to the article so you can go and read the whole thing and you should it's very interesting!

Question: Going through the mistakes/tips, how many of these common mistakes we're you making? Think about it!!  Don't forget to go to the full article to see more common mistakes.

 1. Over conditioning your hair:
I read about this a while back so I've been applying my conditioner the right way for some time now but before I use to coat my hair. If you are prone to oily hair then avoid putting too much conditioner on because it will cause your hair to get even more oily.  When applying condition only apply it to the midsection of your hair down to your roots. That's where your hair has the most damage and is older. There is no need to apply it to your roots because it is protected and coated already in your scalp and hairs natural oil. Putting conditioner on your roots will weigh your hair down and make it more oily and greasy.  Also you only need around half a dollar size amount. A little bit goes a long way!

2. Don't brush your hair when it's wet:
I had no idea about this one! I always brush my hair when it's wet but experts say that you should never BRUSH your hair. That doesn't mean you get out of the shower and dry your hair without every combing it. The trick is to get a wide tooth comb (one like I showed you in my fav. hair products) and comb your hair when it's wet with a wide tooth comb. A brush has very narrow bristles that can actually damage and break wet hair unlike the wide tooth's on a comb. When your hair is closer to damp/dry then it is safer to comb your hair with a brush. Personally, I love brushing my hair only because I have long hair and find that a comb doesn't de-tangle my hair like a brush but I will try this method next time I wash my hair only because I do have long hair and I want to keep it looking healthy.

3. The right way to apply perfume:
How do you apply your perfume? I always spray on my neck maybe chest over the clothes as a final out the door spritz and I do TWO big no no's. The first is I spray it on my wrist then rub it together with my other wrist something that most women do I'm sure, well it's not the right way! The friction of rubbing your wrists together with the perfume and your natural oils on your skin will cause the product to alter and then distort the smell of your perfume! Now that I come to think about it, whenever I rub my wrists together I find that the smell diminishes quite a bit and I end up spraying more perfume. So how to properly spray. Spray on each wrist and do not rub them together or wave them in the air, just spray and walk away. Other key area's on our body are the neck, chest and inside of the elbow the body's heat help diffuse the scent.

4. Another perfume No No:
Like I said in #3 there are TWO big no no's. The first was rubbing your wrists together the second is applying perfume to your hair.  I usually finish my hair with hairspray then that's all I can smell. Even if I apply perfume I find my hair smells like  hairspray, even if your hairspray isn't strong it can still smell like it. So I always like to give a little spritz on top of my hair and let the perfume fall naturally on my hair. Well that's not how you apply it!! Since perfume contains alcohol it can dry up your hair and damage it. How to apply? Spray a few times in your hands then clap a few times to evaporate the alcohol then rub through your hair. If you have a roll on  perfume, then roll a few times on the tip of your fingers, wave your fingers in the air then rub over hair. I like having my hair smell like my perfume and I use to spray directly on but now I will do it this way!

5. Pumping your mascara:
I read about this a while back, but still out of old habits I still do it sometimes. Pumping your mascara wand to try and get more product out! I usually end up doing this when my mascara is almost done but what I learned is that instead every tube there is a built-in wipe that takes off the same amount of mascara every time. But why pumping is so bad is that every time you pump it forces air into the tube which then mixes with the formula and can spread unevenly on your lashes making them look clumpy. Also the friction of the pumping softens the formula and that can lead to smudging because it takes longer to set! So never pump your mascara! If you need to pump to get more out because it's almost done then it's time to buy a new one.

My little tip: My mom told me a long time ago when I first started using makeup to buy your mascara with the seasons. Every season buy a new mascara! You should be replacing your mascara every 3-4months even if the tube isn't empty. Applying mascara daily begins to build-up bacteria and since you cannot really wash the wand every few weeks like you should be with your makeup brushes it is important to get a new mascara every 3-4months. Also just replacing the wand doesn't get rid of the bacteria because the formula has been mixed with the previous wand and will contain bacteria!  This is the same with your lipstick, blush, eyeshadows and so on except those do not need to be replaced as often!

6. Lipstick Liner vs Lipstick, which comes first:
I personally never wear lipstick liner probably because of my age and if I we're to wear anything on my lips it would be a gloss again the age but I found this to be very interesting because I always thought the lipstick liner came first before the lipstick but it's FALSE! First apply the lipstick before the liner! Applying the liner after the lipstick will help glide the liner than doing it on bare mouth giving the outline a softer more natural look  all while still keeping a boarder from bleeding.  However please please please pick a liner that is the same colour as your lipstick.  There is nothing worst than wearing a liner a few shades darker, it looks real bad and cheap!

7. Best time to shave your legs:
The best time to shave your legs is 5-10minutes after being in the water or shower.  If you like to shower then right after your shower would be the best time. The heat from the water will soften your skin and make it easy for the razor to glide over your skin. The article states 5-10minutes but I find an extra 5 minutes not harmful because if your like me and take around 15minute showers you can shave after the shower. However you can go in the shower for 5 minutes and then shave your legs before you start to wash your hair. It's your preference!  The article does state though that after being in the water for around 15-20minutes your skin can start to wrinkle and swell from the heat and it makes it harder for the razor to glide along the base of your hair. It depends on your skin type, being in the bath will make your skin wrinkle faster than being in the shower for 15minutes. Just shave your legs sooner than later in the water. You should however always shave after having the water/steam and heat on your skin, it makes your skin smoother and less harsh especially if you are prone to razor burns.

8. Best time to apply hair products:
Never apply hair products to soaking wet hair.  The water from your hair will actually dilute the product and you won't be getting the full effect from it. Also when your hair is wet the pores in your hair are smaller and again your hair won't absorb the products. The bet time to apply products is when your hair is damp to dry. I always apply a leave in conditioner (check my fav. hair products for the type) and I put the product in damp hair. If your ends dry faster like mine because they are thinner and more frail then you can apply the product to the tips first then wait for the midsection to dry a little more before applying the rest of the product. So if your product calls to apply in wet hair, apply it to damp hair. Most products say to apply to damp hair anyways!  I always let my hair become damp by just air drying then I apply the leave in conditioner and any other products for a certain style then blow dry I never blow dry without my leave in conditioner!

9. Shaving cream/gel vs soap:
When you shave do you use shaving cream/gel or just soap? I use a shaving gel, personally I didn't really know there was a difference between shaving cream and gel. Gel is more thick and is best to use if you have dry or sensitive skin which I do. I have some tropical Skintimate gel and it smells amazing!!! I remember once though that I ran out of shaving gel and I used soap to shave my legs. I cut myself, got razor burn and didn't get a close enough shave. The reason is because the shaving cream/gel leaves a cushion that is rich in texture and thicker than the foam  of a soap. The cushion is essential to avoiding nicks and cuts. Also I find that the foam from soap evaporates faster and slides off your skin.

10. Best way to file your nails:
Personally, I don't file my nails but I thought this was interesting because I know people who file their nails and I'm wondering if they do it the right way. I never liked the sound or feeling of filing my nails. If your nails are weak, crack and don't grow it's probably your manicure style. If you do not file your nails the proper way you can cause damage and break your nails which then don't grow!  The best way to file your nails is using either a crystal file or an emery board with a high grit, that mean's that it will be smooth. Never  ever ever used a metal file it will cause damage! When filing always file in one direction, in the same shape as your cuticle because it will less likely cause damage to your nail. Never file your nails in a back and fourth motion it's too rough on the nails.

I loved this article from Oprah.com. The best part was that each beauty mistake was small and easy to read and was sectioned off by pictures. It's very  interesting to learn more about these common mistakes that I know I was making!

Grammy Fashion

A couple of days ago were the Grammys which means fashion, fashion, fashion! The Fashion is really different than those of the other award shows I did the best and worst looks on because the Grammy's are supposed to be fun and flirty. The fashion is different that's what we saw on Sunday. Lady Gaga showing up in an egg to Nicki Minaj wearing a leopard print outfit and bride of frankenstein hair. I expect those looks from them because they are different but there we're a few girls who I expected more from! Take a look below at my best and worst dressed.

BEST DRESSED

Jennifer Hudson:  Versace dress, Louboutin heels, Neil Lane jewelry. She looks amazing in this dress. She lost over 80lbs with Weight Watchers. The colour looks great and the little glitter adds a little shine. I like the super straight hair. It's very chic.

Jewel: One shoulder Pamela Roland dress in a soft yellow. Jewel is around 5 months pregnant and she looked stunning on Sunday. It's hard to see the baby bump from the angle especially with the drapery over the belly. But this is a very soft flowy gown and fits her great.

Jennifer Lopez: Emillio Pucci dress, Louboutin heels and Cartier Jewls. JLo looked great on Sunday which lately she's been spot on whenever I see her on TV. She is always dressed to impress on American Idol and shes becoming a major fashionista. I love her sparkle that she brings to the carpet. Not many celebs we're wearing glittz and sparkle but JLo didn't disappoint. I just wish she would have added a bright solid colour like a hot pink to break up the sparkle. The dress, shoes and clutch are all the same if she had a hot pink clutch it would have separated all the sparkle because it can be hard on the eye but if your like me and love sparkles then this look delivers.

Kelly Osbourne: Tadashi Shoji dress and Alexander McQueen heels. Kelly O looked amazing at the Grammys. Lately she's been wearing daring and different looks but I really liked her look on Sunday. The one shoulder ruffled dress with a tight waistline fits her perfectly. She was the only one wearing the soft purple look which complimented her straight blonde hair. I really like the straight hair look on her which is different then the glamour curls she's been sporting lately. Plus how gorgeous are the McQueen heels.

Keri Hilson: Basil Soda dress. I think Keri looks great here. I love the colour with the subtle silver accents running through the dress which is paired with a silver gorgeous heels. The dress is short, flirty and fun. I really like the structure to the dress too its different without being over the top.

Nicole Kidman: Jean Paul Gaultier dress, Fred Leighton Vintage Jewls. Nicole lately has been looking pretty bad on the red carpet. She was on my worst dressed list for the Globes and SAG's but at the Grammys she made it to the best dressed list. She looks great in this tight Jean Paul Gaultier dress. JPG is a different daring designer and the floral print, slight ruffle and mermaid style dress is very flattering. Again this dress is perfect for the Grammys. Plus I lover her curly long hair, its soft and playful different from the ice queen look she sometimes comes off as.

WORST DRESSED:

Amber Riley: Ema Savahl dress. The dress really isn't that bad but I find the metallic print and texture is too heavy for the short dress. What makes me not like this look is the gold shoulder piece. It's a different colour then the dress and is too much for the already busy print of the dress. It's too busy. I was expecting more from her since she looked great at the SAG awards. But she is becoming more of a fashionista!

Eva Longoria: Ashi dress, Brian Atwood heels. Oh Eva! Lately she has been missing the mark at the recent award shows. She's another star who has been on my worst dressed list for the Globes and the SAGs. This look is wrong. The ruffle top is too heavy for her petite frame and again another type of ruffle for the skirt. The top would have looked better paired with a high waisted tight skirt. But she's very petite and the ruffles and heavy design is too much. You can't see her shape in this dress. The dress is wearing her, she's not wearing the dress.

Kim Kardashian:  Kaufman Franco dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewls and Louboutin heels. Kim K is known to be a sex figure and I find her absolutely beautiful. She looks great in a heavy smokey eye or a soft nude look. However this sexy dress isn't cutting it for me. I love it when Kim wears something sexy but this bronze gold colour doesn't flatter her skin tone. What makes me upset is that she's everywhere on every red carpet or premiere and she always looks great except for bigger major red carpets. At the SAG's the look didn't work and again at the Grammys. I do love the nude Louboutin heels though!

Lea Michele: Emilio Pucci dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewls and Louboutin heels.  This look is too dark and heavy for Lea. The dresses ruffles and slit look weird. I don't like the way the slit is cut starting at the side coming into the middle. The ruffles in the slit give the position of the dress a weird look. Also the bigger shoulders which are very in right now doesn't have the full effect because her hair is down covering it, it would have looked better with a sleek tied up hairstyle.  When you have a dramatic shoulder you want to show it off and here she is hiding the structure of the dress.  The red lips also are too dark and I was sick and tired of seeing her pouty sexy face all night. She was trying too hard.

Ricky Martin: Armani jacket and dress shirt.  WOW! Are those silver leggings?! A couple of post down I talked about leggings being in this winter and showed a picture of Conan O'Brien wearing a pair of Jeggings for his show but I would have never expected to see someone voluntarily wear a pair to an award show. Ricky Martin has been everywhere lately and looking great but at the Grammys the pants are bad. From the waist up he looks hot but the waist down the silver leggings are bad especially tucked into the military boot.

ON THE FENCE:

Rihanna: Jean Paul Gaultier dress and Louboutin heels.  I'm on the fence about this dress. I love that it's daring which is what you expect to see on the red carpet at the Grammys. This dress defines Jean Paul Gaultier. As you can see this dress is more daring than the design that Nicole Kidman is wearing. I actually like the dress what's throwing me off is I think the hair. The hair looks too proper for the dress. I really like this fire red colour but I loved her hair big and curly and think this dress would have looked that much better with that hairstyle.

CUTEST LOOK:
Katy Perry showed up with her 90 year grandmother! Her Grammy as she called her, looks AMAZING for 90! But seriously how adorable is her blinged out cane. She's 90 years old with a pimp cane! So sexy! I want that cane real bad!!  Oh and Katy Perry is looking sexy

I found the Grammys to be alright, I was a little disappointed with some of the wins. I'm not a Beiber fan but he's sold so many albums and is actually talented and didn't win best new artist. I think the people in charge should consider everything when picking the winner, not just talent but success also. Also I wanted Katy Perry to win best Album because she's broken so many records and has hits like California Gurls, Teenage Dreams and Fireworks from the Album all instant hits and still are. Even if you are not a fan of her you have to admit her songs are very catchy!  I found the performances to be alright, nothing really stood out to me. I was expecting Lady Gaga to be amazing but I found the performance to be full of dancing and nothing out there like Elton John playing piano or a bloody Gaga flying. It was just mediocre. She danced the whole time, not explosions or surprises. It was just alright.

Big Volume

I talked about the Garnier Fructis Body Boost: Root Booster in my favourite hair products blog.  I recently did a YouTube video on how I achieve maximum volume.  This is a great product, it doesn't weigh your hair down and it's very manageable.  It's a great product to act as a base to hold your tease in all day and to give thickness to your hair.

The 5 Hottest Winter Trends

Winter is here and just because it's cold outside doesn't mean that our fashion as to freeze over! For those of you living in area's that get a lot of snow then it's harder to wear clothes that make us feel sexy and fashionable.  There might be too much snow outside to wear high heels or it may be too cold outside to wear the little black dress. But winter fashion can be sexy and fun.  I've posted below the 5 hottest winter trends you see throughout Hollywood right now. I incorporated some pictures of celebs who are seen wearing these trends as well as some of my own pieces of clothing that fall under the trend to show you can get this look for much cheaper. I always think fashion should be affordable! The top 5 winter fashions are 1) Faux Fur, 2)Leggings, 3) Long Sweater Dresses, 4) High Boots and 5) Scarves and big statement jewelry.

1) Faux Furs: Many celebs are supporting faux furs this winter season. Fur makes a big statement and it's becoming more popular to wear fake fur than the real thing!  Look for boots, jackets with faux fur and bold animal prints and vests.

Elle MacPherson is wearing 4 out of the 5 hottest winter trends. But I want to showcase her amazing boots. Everyone has a pair of boots that are either UGG's or similar to them. Here Elle is wearing a chunkier, almost knee high boot with a fur trim. These boots have been in for many years and they will continue to be in because the look constantly evolving and changing. Plus I love the buckles around the boot it's all about the subtle detail. And the leather leggings are hot! Check out Elle's fur vest to Kim K's vest a few pictures down!

Nicky Hilton is wearing a bold leopard print jacket.  Leopard print is very in! This jacket is gorgeous! It's the perfect length. You don't want a long animal print jacket it will make you appear bigger than you and can be too bold. The jacket falls right under the butt which looks great with the leggings and knee high boots. I really like the big buttons. The only problem for me is that the coat doesn't carry much shape. Since Nicky is very skinny it looks good on her slim frame but someone who may be more hippie or boxier may make you look bigger than you are. To have more of a shape and show off your figure adding a matching belt around your waist will show off your curves!

I thought I would put a picture of Suri Cruise. Of course she has been in the limelight for being a little mini fashionista but seriously her clothes and fashion sense is too cute.  For those of you that have children this is a perfect coat for your little ones. This is a little gray fur jacket. The textures and shades from how the fabric is placed looks great. The big buttons add a little detail and doesn't the coat just look so warm, soft and cuddly!

Kim  Kardashian is wearing a black fur vest. This vest is very different from Elle's soft brown vest. This vest that Kim K is wearing gives and illusion of a long scarf because it hangs down so low. I think it looks great with the black blouse and leggings. Plus how killer are her louboutin thigh high boots! Again just like Elle Kim is wearing almost all 5 winter trends. The black on black looks great just like with Elle her browns/nude colours paired together look great.

Here I am wearing a faux fur vest from Raffinala. It's my mom's vest, she bought it from one of our local fashion shops.  I really like this vest. It has a puffy body but it's form fitting so it doesn't give you the allusion of looking bigger. Then there is fur around the collar and once tied all the as you can see from the picture the front of the collar bends forward. My favourite part of the vest is the little pompoms hanging. Its the little detail like having the collar bend down and the pompoms that make this vest.  The vest is a shiny chocolate brown.

2) Leggings is the second hottest winter trend. Some of you may be thinking how is that a winter trend but really it's an everyday trend! Leggings have been becoming increasingly more popular.  There are so many different materials, colours and details that you can get now.  There's even jeggings which are leggings that looks like jeans. When I walk through the mall it seems like every second person no  matter the age is wearing leggings.  Also I noticed that more and more girls are wearing leggings with shorter tops. Before people going to the gym would wear leggings as exercise pants with a short shirt. But now you can wear any kind of top with leggings.  I still think leggings look the best with a long shirt over top especially since leggings are very revealing of all of our flaws so having a longer top may hide some unwanted imperfections. If you do not have a pair of leggings in your closet please please please go out and buy some.

Audrina Patridge is wearing 3/4 length leggings. This look is more of a workout look. More and more people wear this look out to run errands.  It's the athletic version of leggings, the look says I'm going or just came from the gym and that I'm active. I like this look that Audrina is doing. She looks athletic but still chic with the layering, sunglasses and knit hat.

Fergie is wearing a snake skin design. These leggings are very cute. It's different than your usual black plain leggings. The snake skin design is very subtle yet against the light adds shine. I don't really like what she paired with her leggings, the leopard print shoes do not really go with the snake skin design and same with the old cut up shirt. But the leggings are very cute.

Hilary Duff is wearing gorgeous full length leopard print leggings.  Animal prints are in this winter and so are leggings so why not do both into one. You have to watch out though when putting bold prints on your bottom half.  If your thighs are bigger than you want to try and mask it with a solid colour to try and draw attention away from your biggest area. So if your biggest area are your thighs or butt then wear a solid colour. If you want to wear an aminal print wear a smaller print. If you wear a bigger print then it can make your legs and thighs looks bigger.  The print size Hilary is wearing is a perfect size. However it doesn't go with her shirt.

Melanie C from the Spice Girls is wearing a liquid latex black leggings. I think these leggings could be really cute paired with the right outfit. I don't think they look good with the short pink top she is wearing.  The only problem with these leggings is that since they are so shinny and give the appearance of being painted on they can make your thighs look really big. I would pair these leggings with a longer top to avoid making your thighs bigger than they are.  This liquid look leggings are cute paired with the right outfit.

CONAN! These are the every so popular jeggings! Who says a man can't wear leggings. Conan O'Brien wore a pair of faded jeggings for an entire episode of his late night talk show. He looks real good in them. Go Team CoCo.

This is picture of my favourite pair of leggings. They are a cotton full length legging.  The only thing with cotton leggings is that they stretch after wearing them.  As you can see around the ankle they are stretched out and not form fitting around the ankle. But they are really comfy and soft.

These are two other pairs, the right pair is a brown full length and the left are a spandex 3/4 length in black.

This is a closer look at the tiny detail on the leggings. The brown leggings have a line, like a pleat going down the front of the leg. The black spandex has three silver buttons.

3) The third trend for winter is a sweater dress! When I went into Winners (I love that store, you can find designer clothes for cheap) there we're sweater dresses everywhere. There are so many different types of sweater dresses. Long or shorter, tight or loose, button up or slip on, it's endless. I suggest that everyone have a sweater dress, you can wear them with leggings which I think they look best with or even with jeans if it's a looser bulky dress or long sweater that you can button up.

Claudia Schiffer is wearing an open long sweater. These cover ups are very in. It adds style instead of wearing a sweater or jacket.

Victoria Beckham is wearing a long sweater dress that basically just looks like a long boyfriend sweater. I really like this look. It's a casual comfy but chic boyfriend look. She makes it more feminine with the killer tights. I love love love  her tights they are different and a nice change that leggings. It makes the outfit more sexy. And those black pumps complete the look.  You could easily wear this sweater dress with skinny jeans too or the liquid latex leggings that Mel C was wearing before would go perfect with this sweater.

Nicole Richie is wearing a classic sweater dress with sheer leggings that look almost like tights. What I love about this turtle neck sweater dress is the killer shoulder pads. It took this classic sweater dress to a haute couture fab sweater dress. This screams fashionista. It compliments her boho chic look that she's been wearing.

This is my mom's sweater dress. It's more of a long sweater like Claudia's but I like that you can button up the sweater to turn it into a sweater dress. It's meant to hang straight down. There isn't much shape to it but the back has a few pleats to add some detail. The shirt I am wearing under doesn't go with the sweater dress and I should have put my arms down to show how the sweater falls. But the picture of the sweater dress alone shows the shape and length. This looks great paired with the brown leggings and the brown knee high boots in the next section.

4) The fourth look for winter are knee high boots. It can either be just below the knee or thigh high boots but knee high boots are everywhere right now. You can get them in many different materials like suede, leather or fake leather for those of us on a budget! Unlike the fur boots that Elle was wearing these boots are tighter and hug your leg. You can wear them with leggings, tights, skinny jeans, dresses or skirts!

Blake Lively is wearing a plain classic knee high boot. What I like about these is that they look comfy, there isn't a big heal for those who are tall or can't walk in a heel. They look great with her jeans. They are the dressier version of a motorcycle boot which are also very in this season.

Kim K loves her thigh high boots. She has many different styles. If you go back to the picture of her in the faux fur section, she is wearing a pair of thigh highs. If you compare both pictures, she is actually wearing the same louboutin heel. However she changes the look completely by not zipping the boot up all the way. Here the boot has almost a pirate feel to it with the flaps on top. She made the boot very versatile! Love it!

Jennifer Lopez is wearing a suede thigh high boot and these are very thigh high. She is wearing with a white dress. If you want to wear thigh high boots with a dress make sure that the material like suede works well here because if you have a leather boot I think it would make the look, look trashy. You can easily look like a prostitute if you don't wear the boot the right way. I like them with leggings the most but J.Lo does this look very well.

This is the pair of brown boots that I said would look great with the brown leggings and buttoned up sweater dress. These are my mom's boots and they are gorgeous. The heel isn't big so it makes it easy to walk in and they are a brown suede with dark rich shinny brown trim and detail.

These are another pair of boots. They are flat with a little flat heel, one that you can't even notice. This is a more casual boot compared to the brown one.  They look like riding boots and are very comfy.

 5) The final look for this winter is scarves and big statement jewelry.  Scarves are always in, summertime or winter but it's all about the print and length. Depending on the length you can tie a scarf so many different ways. I love that scarves have a different texture. material and print. A scarf can really change your entire outfit. It can also completely make your outfit from flab to fab!  Look at the picture of Jessica Alba on three different ways she wears her scarf!

Here big statement jewelry is in! You see it in bold bib necklaces, chunky bracelets and oversized rings.

Eva Mendes is wearing a beautiful bib turquoise bib necklace. The colour looks amazing on her and it's quite the statement piece. It can really make the outfit. When you have a bold necklace it's best to do what Eva did and wear small earrings, if you wear big earrings it will look too heavy and too much, ruining the look.

Hilary Duff is wearing an oversized ring and chunky bracelets. Depending on the colour and shape you can make this look more casual like Hilary did or dress it up with sparkles for a red carpet event.

These are two pieces of jewelry that I have. The one on the left is a vintage bib necklace that use to be my grand-maman's. The necklace is over 60 years old. This necklace would be perfect for a dressy event like a wedding, charity event or an event like a red carpet. It would make a statement with a strapless dress and the earrings to the right.

The earrings are from Swarovski Bella Clear earrings. They are gorgeous and add the perfect amount of sparkle!  The earrings come in a wide range of colour also such as gold, a pink hue and blue hue. If you don't like the hanging earring it also comes in studs!!

Katherine Heigl is wearing a plain white scarf. I like the way she wrapped it once around her neck and then lets it fall loosely. It's a good look if you are on the go. It's a casual look.

Jessica Alba: This is three different looks on how you can wear your scarf. She really knows how to wear her scarves.  Look at the different materials and prints. I like referring back to this picture on how I should wear my scarf.

These are two different scarves that I have. The left is an animal print and it's just tied through the loop around my neck.  The right is a silver sparkle with some fringe that's wrapped around my neck then tied in the front.

Those are the 5 hottest winter trends. Expect to see these trends carry into spring.  Out of these 5 trends I suggest you absolutely have to have a pair of leggings and a few scarves!
